CAMP HOST POSITION – ROLE, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND REQUIREMENTS

Role of Camp Host

The Camp Host position is a key leader in the Green Pastures Christian Campgrounds organization and is an integral part of the effective operation of the campground. The office of Camp Host requires its occupant to
love the Lord our God and to know His Son Jesus Christ as his or her personal Savior, and generally to conduct himself or herself in a manner exemplifying that of a servant of the ministry of Green Pastures.
The Camp Host aids the collective effort to prepare the campground, make it available to guests, and facilitate its effective use. The Camp Host is tasked with much of the day-to-day management of the campground for opportunities for the organization’s many ministry outlets.

Responsibilities

The Camp Host generally is responsible for tending to a wide variety of duties summarized below.

Hospitality:
The Camp Host serves as the official host for all campground usage by individuals or groups,
including by doing the following:

● (i) receiving, evaluating, and responding to inquiries about campground usage;

● (ii) scheduling/booking usage of the campground and its facilities;

● (iii) preparing the campground (including lodging facilities where appropriate) in advance of scheduled
events or guests’ arrival, including purchasing and stocking hospitality-related supplies and equipment,
laundering linens, and inspecting and cleaning dormitories or lodge rooms;

● (iv) greeting/registering guests upon arrival, collecting any prescribed facilities usage fees, and orienting
guests to the campground’s layout, facilities, and policies/procedures;

● (v) providing access to the facilities and related resources reasonably requested and necessary for the
usage of the campground or facility;

● (vi) generally being physically present on-site (or being reasonably available to return promptly if
needed) to address issues that may arise during guests’ usage of the campground, including answering
questions, making or providing for needed facility repairs, etc.;

● (vii) attending and participating in guests’ events when required by Green Pastures;

● (viii) enforcing campground policies and procedures during guests’ on-site events/programming; and

● (ix) restoring the campground following the departure of scheduled events or guests.


Facilities Maintenance/Oversight:
The Camp Host assists other organization leaders with maintaining and
overseeing the campground’s physical space and buildings by doing the following:

● (i) Grounds Care and Upkeep: Providing for the general care and upkeep of the campgrounds,
including purchasing and stocking supplies for the camp kitchen or for other campground
maintenance/cleaning, performing regular and routine maintenance of the grounds (including mowing,
trimming, and brush removal), arranging for regular maintenance of any camp automobiles or other
major equipment; and

● (ii) Stewardship: Serving as a good steward of the organization’s equipment and other portable assets
(i.e., computers, photocopiers, printers, digital projector, soundboard, equipment, etc.).

Administration: The Camp Host assists other organization leaders with some of the campground’s administrative needs by doing the following:

● (i) Communication: Receiving and responding to outside inquiries made of the campground by potential guests; coordinating/scheduling of on-site appointments with outside professionals, contractors, or vendors for the purpose of obtaining job estimates, any required or requested inspection of the facility or the organization’s records, or other similar need; and conducting certain correspondence as authorized or directed by Green Pastures;

● (ii) Receipts: Collecting and recording all campground usage fees, receiving charitable gifts or donations consistent with Green Pastures’ financial policies, and helping with timely issuance of appropriate written acknowledgments;

● (iii) Disbursements: Issuing payments/disbursements necessary to cover the campground’s regular or
special operating expenses, purchase of campground or activity supplies, pay vendor invoices for special projects or regular services to the campground and reimburse authorized incurred by others on behalf of the organization or campground for legitimate ministry or operational purposes; and

● (iv) Reporting: Making monthly (or other periodic) reports on the following subjects: (a) actual and projected usage of the campground; (b) any major facilities or operational issues come to the Camp Host’s attention during the performance of his or her duties; (c) any recommendations for updates/modifications to campground policies, for facilities repairs or improvements, or other similar feedback for improvement; and (d) any other data or information deemed relevant by the Camp Host or as may be required by Green Pastures.

Miscellany: The Camp Host assists other organization leaders with other operational areas for the effective management of the campground, including helping with the organization’s efforts/projects as appropriate or directed in the areas of marketing, fundraising, and recruitment of volunteers. The Camp Host also performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the organization.

Relationship, Accountability, and Residency

The Camp Host shall report and be accountable on a day-to-day basis to the President (or his or her designee), subject to the general supervisory authority of the Board of Directors. The Camp Host shall work in conjunction with the other members of the Green Pastures leadership team as appropriate and directed. Unless otherwise approved by the Board of Directors, the Camp Host resides in the on-site residence provided for that purpose.

Compensation, Benefits, Evaluation, and Professional Development

The Camp Host is a salaried position with other benefits provided as a condition of employment, including the right to occupy the single-family dwelling provided for the Camp Host at the campground, payment of all reasonable utilities expenses, and a monthly offset for cell phone usage. The Board of Directors evaluates the Camp Host’s job performance and reviews his or her compensation and benefits at least annually. Green Pastures supports the Camp Host’s professional development by making provision for the enhancement of the Camp Host’s knowledge, skills, and training to be used for the benefit of the campground. To that end, Green Pastures expects the Camp Host will participate in at least one professional development opportunity (i.e., attending a course, completing an online or correspondence educational session, etc.) on an annual basis at the campground’s expenses.
